Top Polish tennis player Iga Świątek defeated the veteran of the women’s circuit, Mirra Andriejewa, in straight sets to reach the semifinals of the WTA 1000 in Dubai. In the semifinals, Swiatek will face the winner of the match between Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula.

It was a very solid and confident performance by Swiatek. The world No.1 didn’t face any break points and won 88% of her first-serve points. Andriejewa was simply outclassed by the Pole, who has been in incredible form this year.

The match ended 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour, which sets up an exciting semifinal clash against Rybakina or Pegula. The pair are both capable of playing at a high level, so Świątek will need to be at her best to come through that test and advance to the final.
