Greg Gutfeld: Illegal immigrants are self-deporting
The host of “The Greg Gutfeld Show” on Fox News argued that the current situation at the southern border means that illegal immigration is now “self-deporting.”
He explained that when immigrants cross the border illegally, they are faced with the harsh reality of life in the U.S. once they get here.
“It used to be, ‘OK, I’ll sneak in, and then I’ll find a job, and then I’ll move in with my cousin who’s already here, and then I’ll send for my family,’” Gutfeld said.
“And now, it’s just one thing after another, and it’s all bad,” he continued. “And they realize, ‘Wait, I didn’t just trade one bad situation for another bad situation. I traded a bad situation for a catastrophic situation.’”
Gutfeld’s comments came after former President Donald Trump argued in a press release that the border crisis is a “manufactured crisis,” and that it was “all planned” by the Biden administration.
Trump’s statement came after border officials reported more than 3,000 migrants were intercepted in the Rio Grande Valley last Sunday, the highest number ever recorded in a single day.
The Biden administration has struggled to deal with the growing number of migrants crossing the border, with President Biden himself admitting that the situation is “unsustainable.”
“A wall will not stop the problem,” Biden said in an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos last month. “But it would help. It would help. It’s about, I think, in the minds of people, whether or not, you know, you can — you have a — whether or not you can control your border.”
