LaLiga market values: Kylian Mbappé back up – Julián Alvarez reaches Man City level
Madrid and Barcelona are still far ahead in the championship battle, but the battle for the basters is heating up. After the serious climbs of clubs like Granada and Real Sociedad, newcomers are also hunting for stars. The departure of Messi, along with the economic crisis, has made the Argentinean a cheap option for many clubs.
Look at the current market values and you will see that the shopping spree was not only limited to the summer. Among others, the highly talented Julian Alvarez has also been watched by many clubs in Europe, who probably hope to get the same offensive boost that Manchester City has been enjoying since the 21-year-old’s arrival. The Citizens have been benefiting from the Argentinean’s robust goal scoring since the start of the season, and it is no wonder that, according to “Transfermarkt”, he is now valued at 60 million euros.
This makes him the most valuable player in LaLiga SmartBank at the moment and in the entire top Spanish division. It is surprising that the player benefits from a higher market value than Ferran Torres, who moved to Barcelona for 55 million euros in the summer. Julian Alvarez is currently the most valuable player in LaLiga.
It is also surprising that he is only valued at two million euros more than his original value. After all, the forward has managed to score nine goals in his first 14 games for Manchester City and is also represented in the Argentine national team. Just a few days ago, he made his debut in the CONMEBOL qualifiers and was directly on the scoresheet.
It is likely that no other player in the Argentine national team is climbing as fast as Julian Alvarez at the moment. With a market value increase of 54 million euros, he is well ahead of his teammates. Now it remains to be seen whether the young talent can keep this level and whether his market value will also continue to rise steadily in the coming months.
The highest climber in LaLiga is also a surprise. According to “Transfermarkt”, Girona’s Alex Granell is currently the player whose market value has increased the most. The 26-year-old midfielder has risen from one million euros to 40 million euros in market value. It’s not a typo. His value really has increased 39 times after an impressive start to the season with seven assists and two goals in the league so far.
The former Barcelona youth player has been a regular fixture in the Girona starting line-up this season and has been able to build on the development he has shown in the second division in recent years. After promotion, it was still a big question whether he could hold his own in LaLiga SmartBank, but so far he has easily adapted to the top Spanish division.
Alex Granell is currently one of the players who has benefited the most from his performances in the league. His rise is probably also due to the fact that his contract expires in June 2023. With his current market value, it would be no surprise if a club in a higher league would have already expressed interest in the midfielder.
Another surprise is the name in third place. According to “Transfermarkt”, Getafe’s Allan Nyom is just behind Alex Granell when it comes to climbing in market value. The 31-year-old defender is currently being traded at a value of 22 million euros, which means an increase of 21 million euros compared to his original value. With a contract that runs until 2024, Nyom is in a comfortable position.
The Cameroonian has been a key player for Getafe this season, appearing in all 14 games in the league so far. With his experience, he also plays an important role as a captain and is therefore one of the most important figures in the club. His strong performances in the starting line-up were crucial to the fact that Getafe is currently in a promising eighth place.
After the sale of Enes Unal to Villarreal for a fee of around 20 million euros, the club from the Madrid suburbs will be happy to hear that Allan Nyom is currently their player with the highest increase in market value. This gives hope that the club management was right to refuse offers for the defender in the summer.
It remains to be seen whether Nyom will be able to keep his value stable in the long run or whether he will eventually cash in at the end of the season. With his contract running out in a year and a half, this scenario would certainly not be a surprise. After all, players with Nyom’s profile and experience are certainly wanted in the top leagues.
There is still a lot to be said about the current LaLiga season. With this in mind, let’s look at the players whose market value has increased the most in the top Spanish division this season.
