Jason Momoa and Jack Black Think the World Needs ‘A Minecraft Movie’ Right Now: “So Much War and Hatred … We’ve Got to Work Together”

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard anything about a potential Minecraft movie. In fact, it feels like a whole era ago that Jason Momoa mentioned it during interviews as one of his upcoming projects. Well, it’s because it’s been so long that the world needs another Minecraft movie now more than ever, at least according to Momoa and his Jack Black co-star in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

During a recent interview with Gamespot, the pair expressed their desire for a Minecraft movie and why the world needs it right now. “We need some more Minecraft right now,” said Momoa. “There’s so much war and hatred right now. We’ve got to work together.”

Black quickly added, “We need a fucking Minecraft movie now! And also, can I please be the narrator?”

While Sony eventually put the Minecraft movie on the back burner, there is still hope that we might see it someday. During a previous interview, Momoa said that “It’s such a beautiful story about camaraderie and about friendship and about not judging a book by its cover. It’s got such a beautiful storyline.

Until we see what form a Minecraft movie might take, we can enjoy the fantasy adventure of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which releases on March 31st in Germany and worldwide on April 29th.
