‘He went to the ref’s room and cried!’ – Jose Mourinho savaged by Galatasaray boss after feisty derby draw dents Fenerbahce’s title hopes

“‘He went to the ref’s room and cried!’ – Jose Mourinho savaged by Galatasaray boss after feisty derby draw dents Fenerbahce’s title hopes”

The feud between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray is never too polite and Jose Mourinho certainly felt the intensity of one of world football’s bitterest rivalries

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss saw his Fenerbahce side forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to their Istanbul rivals after a controversial 90 minutes, during which Fenerbahce had two players sent off.

With the game goalless, Fenerbahce had Mehmet Caliskan sent off just before the half-hour mark, and Galatasaray thought they had the lead shortly after through Ryan Donk, only for the goal to be ruled out for a push on Fenerbahce’s Victor Moses.

Fenerbahce thought they had won it when Erwin Mulder’s howler allowed Miguel Borja to tap into an empty net, only for the referee to rule out the goal for a push on Donk, despite replays appearing to show minimal contact.

The game finished 2-2 after Fenerbahce’s Diego Godin was sent off in the 89th minute for a professional foul on Mostafa Mohamed, with both sides having good reasons to feel aggrieved at the final result.

And Mourinho’s touchline antics and complaints obviously left a mark on the officials, as well as his opposite number Domenec Torrent, who took a swipe at the Portuguese after the final whistle.

“He went to the ref’s room and cried,” Torrent told reporters, according toGlobesporte. “I have worked with Mourinho and I know him well. He is a genius of football but he is a bad loser.

“He was complaining all the time but I want to focus on our team’s performance. We were better than Fenerbahce, we dominated and created more chances. I prefer to talk about my players’ display.”

Fenerbahce sit third in the Super Lig, one point behind leaders Adana Demirspor, who they face next weekend.
